When traveling - Bring carseat or rent one?
We're going to Orlando for 8 days in Oct. Should I bring DD's car seat or rent one? We do not have a seat for her on the plane.
We're booking a car with Alamo and they offer care seats.
If you've brought a seat did you gate check it or send it through with your luggage?

We are flying to Florida in March and are bringing the carseat with us. But we are bringing it right on the plane because he has a seat. I don't know about checking it.

Hey Patti,
I think I told you, but we ended up bringing our spare one (a grandparent one). We actually put it in a laundry bag (cloth bag) & checked it in & it was fine. We could have used it on the plane but she was fine in the seat & then ended up falling asleep laying across our laps.
We felt better having our own car seat.

I would bring it.... I just can't stand that I don't know how they cleaned it....
In the past I have gate checked it, but that was b/c it was her infant seat. If your DD has her own seat then I would say to bring her seat with you, and sit it in the seat on the plane.

Bring your own. We used ours on the plane, since we bought seats for DC for safety reasons.
With a rental carseat, how old is it? Was it recalled? Was it in an accident? Was it cleaned since the last use? Was a chemical spilled on the straps that would weaken them? Unless you can get a completely, 100% accurate answer to all those questions, I wouldn't trust them.

We just came back from Hilton Head and we checked our car seat through. I just purchased the car seat traveler bag from BRU. I think it was $20.
