When to tell DD about #2
How/When did you tell your other children you were pregnant. DD is 4 1/2 she has been asking to be a big sister for a while now. We want to make it special for her.

Re: When to tell DD about #2
We told DS a bit early, 8 weeks, was going to wait until after the first trimester but since he was 5 I didn't want him to find out by overhearing us or something. Anyway I got out his sono pics and the new baby's pics and shows him side by side the first one and then how his new sibling would grow based on his sonos

Re: When to tell DD about #2
We also told DD at 8 weeks. We were going on a cruise that week and there was so much that she was used to Mommy doing that I wouldn't be able to do...the giant water slide, swim with the dolphins, etc. My DH is NOT a daredevil and so it was going to be weird that he was doing these things with her. So we decided to explain it. I had my first sono, we saw the heartbeat and got pics, and I went to Osh Kosh and got her a Big Sister shirt.
She is 6 so she can read so we had her open up the shirt and read it to us, and she thought we meant that she was the dog's big sister! Then we showed her the sonogram and told her the news. She was super excited!

Re: When to tell DD about #2
We still haven't told DS. I'm still not quite ready to be totally out to the world. I know DS would openly share this info. I plan to wait until after my Level II just to make sure things are ok. If I didn't have some questionable test results with my NT scan, I would have told him already.

How old is she?
Seamus is 3 and a half and we waited to tell him until I was 12 weeks. He sort of got it then. Now he sees my belly and he says thats "my baby" We know he is going to have a lttle brother and his name will be Kiernan so he talks to him and touches my belly and stuff. Its so cute!

Re: When to tell DD about #2
I don't plan on telling DD until I know for sure that everyone is ok with the baby. She's at the age where she remembers EVERYTHING so if we were to tell her and (god forbid) I should miscarry, she'll totally remember, which I don't want to do to her. I was thinking of waiting until the 1st trimester is over.

Re: When to tell DD about #2
My DD is also 4 and we waited until 12 weeks to tell her. We just wanted to make sure everything was OK before we told her. We also knew once we told her the cat would be out of the bag! I think this is an awesome age to become a big sister- my DD is so excited for her baby sister!!
