when to stop work?

I work full time..mostly office work..hour from home/hour and twenty minutes away from hospital.. My first was induced month early but this time not having complications. Dr says up to me. I feel if Ileave too soon it takes away from time home with baby. Family trying to get m e to stop week or so before due date...?

Re: when to stop work?

I worked up until the day my water broke (which happened to be my due date).

1) I'd rather use my fmla with the baby, not before
2) movement is good for you!
3) time will drag if you are home!

ITA with all these reasons! With my first 2 pregnancies, I worked until I went into labor. With my first, I was 4 days past my due date when I woke up early in the morning in labor, so I didnt go to work. Had my son that night. With my second, I was 8 days overdue when I got up to get ready for work and realized I was having some contractions, but no pattern yet. I went to work, and my boss sent me hone an hour later. Had my son the next day around noon. Wouldn't do anything differently this time!

With both my girls I worked up until the day I gave birth. Dd #1was born at 40 weeks and Dd #2 was born 37w3d. I delivered them both on a Thursday and worked the Wednesday before. I agree with the reasons above. Unless you are physically unable or there is some complication I would work as long as you can.

My job gives us 2 weeks prior to due date, if I didn't have that I would probably work from home those 2 weeks.

when to stop work?

With my DS I worked up until the 2 days before my scheduled c-section. I plan on working until this one comes out as well. I have a 45 minute commute home and hospital is about an hour away. It's never concerned me.

Re: when to stop work?

It really depends on how you feel and what your dr thinks.
I worked up until the day I gave birth.
That Monday I was having mild contractions- but wasn't sure if they were contractions or not- so I worked from home all day.
Tuesday morning I went to the hospital and had her that day.
I felt fine though- I wasn't uncomfy or anything and I really had no reason to stop working early.
I also had no paid maternity leave so I wanted to save my time for after she was here.

Re: when to stop work?

I'm in a different situation because I am a teacher and due 4 weeks before the end of school (June 1). I will probably make the week of Memorial Day my last week. We're off that Friday so May 22 will most likely be my last day. I have around 90 days in my sick bank and will be going back in September when school starts up again (around 13 weeks after my due date) but would only be using 22 days from my sick bank, due to summer vacation.
