WHEN to go apple picking and pumpkin picking?
I was just looking at my calendar and we're pretty busy in September and October (much like the rest of the year!) and was trying to figure out when to go apple/pumpkin picking. I know we did apple picking in September last year. When's the best time to go and do that? How about pumpkin picking? Is the second weekend in October too early? Otherwise we won't be able to go until the week before Halloween and I'm afraid there won't be any good pumpkins left !

We are actually going apple picking today. For apples, it depends on which apples you want to buy. We go out to the Milk Pail in Bridgehampton and they always have a great selection. Pumpkins I believe start the end of September, but you can definitely go through the month of October. Sometimes we go on Columbus Day since DH is off.

This will be our first year apple picking and we plan on going on Sept 18th. Pumpkin picking we usually do the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October.

Haven't been apple picking yet, but usually we do pumpkin picking around the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October...
Last year though it was late...it was the week before Halloween, and there were plenty of pumpkins left...just fyi!

We went apple picking a week ago. Was great. We always try to go the first two weeks of September. Best selection of apples. Sometimes we make a second trip around Columbus Day.
As for pumpkins, we go picking at Stop and Shop just before Halloween. We go to a local farm for a hayride... but seriously, the "picking" part is kind of a farce... you are paying triple for pumpkins someone dropped in a field.

We are going apple picking this weekend and we go to schmitt farm for my son to get a small little pumpkin that he picks himself but we dont bother getting a big one there much cheaper to get a huge one at BJ's, Walmart or Stews.

This thread is so old, but we apple and pumpkin pick at Meat Farms. 
I'm sooooo not into the fall fruit picking stuff
Especially when it's 80 degrees and humid out.
This weekend is supposed to be in the 80s. 84 on Sunday I think!. I'd much rather be at the beach then sweating my ass off in a pumpkin patch

Some spammer came on last night and made an account and posted a ton of links to spam sites on old threads. The person got blocked and their spam posts removed by the admins but all the threads they bumped up from the past remained bumped up.
