At what point do they rear their ugly head?

Why would you expect them? You may not get any! Some people start gettting them early on 24-25 weeks and some people get them at the very end.

I only got 14 little stretch "dots" -- I had 2 right before DD was born and the other 12 popped up after she was born oddly. I had been heavy in my life before (lost 45 lbs over 3 years before my wedding) and only gained to just about the same as my lifetime heaviest through my PG. Obviously it was in a different distribution then from when I was PG lol. But I felt pretty lucky!
