I am not that close yet. But i like to start things early. You might as well start all of that 3-4 weeks before the babies arrival.

Car seat base - I think we did about 2-3 weeks before the baby was due. With me being so late it was in there for a while 
Newborn clothes - I didn't wash until the baby came home. We really weren't sure how big the baby would be - so we washed a couple of N and 0-3 onesies and wash the rest when we came home.

I was just wondering about this as well. I have been having contractions, and the dr was saying after 34 weeks (which is Sunday) the green light is on. The baby can come at any time, and the docs wont stop it. So now I am afraid that I may go early, so I was thinking about putting it in in the next week or 2!

I went crazy and washed the clothes around 30 weeks. I couldn't wait for her to get here. We didn't put the base in till after she was born. DH grabbed it on the way back to the hospital after he went home to feed the dog.

I did some clothes already.
The car seat base and the rest of the clothes will have be next week (38 weeks) after my shower this weekend.

I'm installing the car seat (or rather going to a place that installs it for me so I don't screw it up) right after I get it, which hopefully is at one of my showers at 31 and 32 weeks.
