When the planets align...

Remember the old Diantecs commercial? A person decides not to board a plane for some unknown reason, later that plane crashes and everyone dies or something like A man, after 22 years of taking the same route home tried a new road...that night there was a 25 car pile up on the highway.

Anyway, if you remember or know what I am talking about...have you ever had a moment like this?

I have never had anything happen like that, but I do remember they did two movies like that. They were horrific.

Yes I had a HUGE one!

The morning of my wedding, my mom couldnt find her license. She never loses anything and its always in the same spot in her wallet. My sister, myself and mom were supposed to go get our hair done. My mom was going to drive. But since she couldnt find her license, I picked them up and drove. About 2 blocks away, I had a solid green light. I was going through an intersection and a cop car with no light, no sirens or anything blew his solid red. I slammed on the brakes and literally came within inches of him. Of course they didnt slow down but I had to pull over to regain my composure.

My mom has reflex problems with her legs when she is nervous (as she was the morning of my wedding.) Had she been driving, we would have definately been hit and in my opinion, definately killed!

2 days later, she was going through her trunk in her car. There was her license under a bunch of junk. She never puts her waller or pocketbook in the trunk. Till this day, we still have NO IDEA how it got there.

Someone from above was watching and made that license disappear.

I still cant get over it!

I have had a few things like that happen.

One day I was late to work and for some reason, I looked in my wallet and couldn't find my AAA card. Who cares, right? Well, I became obsessed with finding it, making me even more late. My mom told me to forget it, no big deal, but I finally found it and went to work. Wouldn't you know, on the way home, my car broke down and I needed it?

THIS STORY IS GROSS/SAD--BEWARE FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!!
The big one was when I was in college. I always walked through the main "College Green" area of campus right before 12 noon to get to class. Well, something really random made me late that day (can't remember what), and I was rushing through at around 12:10 (class started at 12) and there was this awful smell--this woman had doused herself in gasoline and set herself on fire!!!!!! in front of the giant peace sign statue in front of the library-where hundreds of students were- as a protest against the government. When I got there, they had put a sheet over her, and a policeman had been injured as well, because he jumped on her to try to put the fire out. I will never forget that smell Had I been ontime, I would have seen her on fire, screaming.

Your title made me think of the song from "Hair"

Anywhooo I am a firm believer that the smalled incidents can domino into something huge. One day I was sooo late for work & rushing & I could not shake this feeling like I was forgetting something, so I turned around & went back to the house to check all the locks, windows stove, that kind of stuff. Well it took me about 10 minutes from my normal travels & there was a SEVERE accident on the SS Parkway. I drove an MG at the time & would have surely been crushed undera van that flipped over the divider & slammed into oncoming traffic.

Scared the crap out of me. (oh & I forgot nothing in my house)

On he day of the 2003 blackout I was going to work from SE Queens tro Harlem..looong train ride. I was supposed to leave at 3 at the latest. I remember looking at the clock and it being 3:15 and me thinking "How the heck am I late?" I really had NO idea why I was late, I started getting ready on time, etc, it was so weird. Just as I was leaving the power went out..and this was when we lost pawer for more than 24 hours in NYC. Had I left on time I would have been stuck on the subway, probably underground

DH decided to take our camera in to work one Tuesday morning. It just so happened to be the same day I called in sick. I was feeling fine, I just needed a mental health day.

He called me an hour and a half later and told me that something was happening and he was taking a picture of it. He told me to turn on the tv. This was the picture he took when he got off the subway and was walking towards work:



It was just moments after the first plane hit, and at that point, we didn't know it was terrorism. We hung up, he continued walking to work (on Broadway, close to the WTC) and I got on the phone with my mother.

I was on the phone with her, telling her that she was crazy for thinking it was intentional, and watching the towers on tv when the second plane hit.

After being in shock for a minute, I told her I had to hang up and get DH on the phone.

I couldn't get through to him, of course, for quite some time. My MIL, who also worked very close to the WTC at the time, called me and for the next few hours, I was the "command post" if you will, for DH and MIL trying to get them to meet at the same spot so they could walk across the bridge together so my FIL could pick them up.

His idiot employers tried to get everyone to stay at the office. They were close enough to the WTC to be in the hot zone and were closed for weeks afterwards. Stupid people. Thankfully, he doesn't work for them anymore.

I can't think of anything right now that happened to me (never anything that big for me) but my 2nd cousin-in-law overslept on 9-11, so she was late for work... good thing cause she worked in the WTC!
