When should I start to worry about pronunciation?
Andrew has trouble saying C when H follows. Like Choo Choo.
And sometimes with S's.
When should I bring it up to the dr?

I wouldn't worry until about 4 or 5. But I always believe in asking my ped since it makes me feel better

Re: When should I start to worry about pronunciation?
Definitely not now. Just be happy he's communicating with words. Some kids don't even get alot of words - clear or otherwise - till they are 2 1/2, sometimes older. My DD couldnt say F's this past summer (she was 3 in July) and she does fine with them now. "Fishing" was "Pissing" LOL it was sort of funny. They don't perfect certain sounds till much older. F's are considered a 4 year old letter as are some others like S. EI wont even look at articulation so he would have to be at least 2 1/2 before it would be considered an issue.

Speech Sounds
Check out this link. It gives you an idea of what sounds kids should make at what age. Notice it is not until age 5 or 6 that kids should be able to make all sounds.

Re: When should I start to worry about pronunciation?
i was told after the age of 2 to be concerned. that is what the speech patholgist that was a speaker at one of olivia's groups said. olivia was saying her F's as S's which wasnt so bad and she corrected it over the last couple months . i worked on different words with her and she was fine.

Re: When should I start to worry about pronunciation?
It REALLY depends on the issue... most kids have minor articulation issues which resolve themselves... if it were a severe problem (as in, every sound pronounced incorrectly, or totally unintelligible), I'd say get evaluated earlier, but if its just a few speech sounds and your son is still very young, its not anything to worry about yet. How old is DS anyway?

Re: When should I start to worry about pronunciation?
I would only be concerned after two yrs old or closer to three. My oldest son had problems with a few letters and by 3yrs old he was getting services for them. You can always check with your ped to make you feel better.
