when selling a house
is your agent there most of the time when the house is being shown? Or do you just show it? Thanks

Re: when selling a house
How the house is shown is really up to you as the seller.
Most of the time, when a house is occupied by the sellers, other agents who want to show the house will just make an appointment -- through the listing office -- to show the house at a certain day and time. The listing office will confirm with the seller that someone will be home to let the agent who wants to show the house to a buyer in the door. (If the house is vacant or the sellers are for some reason rarely home, then other arrangements can be made.)
If you, as the seller, will be home to let the showing agent in, then there's really no need to have your listing agent show up, too. But you as the seller should not have to "show" the home -- the agent who is showing should do that; that's their job! When I am the listing agent, I advise my sellers to try to be inconspicuous during the showing (stay in one room or the yard) and to not make too many comments (other than nicely greeting the agent and buyers, making small talk, etc.). The agent who is showing the home knows best what his/her buyers are looking for and can point out features of your home that will matter most to them. And if the seller is too involved with the showing, the buyers may feel like too much like "guests" in the house to really envision themselves living there.
When setting up showing instructions with your listing agent, you need to make sure you feel comfortable with how showings will be done. But at the same time, you want to maximize showings and give buyers as much access to your home as possible. So having your listing agent show up for all showings could reduce your showings (given that your listing agent may not always be available...)
Good luck!

Re: when selling a house
Out of all the houses we saw with our agent, there was only one house where the seller's agent was there. Every other time the house was either vacant or the seller was present.

Dh works from home, so he was always there, but didn't show it. Our agent only came if she was bringing a buyer
