When purchasing a new carpet...

what do you look for in the carpet? Stainmaster, etc. Do you look for a certain type of carpet? Are some features better than others? How do you know a carpet is "good."

We have never purchased carpeting before and when i think of shopping for a carpet, it makes me thing of what it's like going to a car dealership, like i'm going to get ripped off. Not sure why?

We need to carpet 2 bedrooms, maybe 3. Any recommendations as to where to go? I'm south shore nassau.

We looked at All Carpet in Seaford and actually bought our carpet at Classic Carpet in levittown. There were a few others in Farmingdale that we never actually went to check out.

We went in knowing what colors we were looking for and what price we wanted to spend. The salesperson showed us the most popular carpet styles in our price range.

Re: When purchasing a new carpet...

I just bought carpet last week. It was quite stressful since there were so many options.

Mohawk is another popular brand, I think that's who I ended up going with.

I went with the thinnest version of the carpet I liked since it was going into a bedroom and it's not a highly trafficked area (the guy I was working with told me that would be good).

We went with a type that was compressed so it wouldn't show footmarks as much or doormarks or wear as easily.

I didn't really have time to comparison shop so I just went with the place that was highly recommended by our builder. It seemed no frills so I think I did get a decent price.
