When people talk to you about current events....

Do you pretend to know what they are talking about and go along with it, or do you just fess up that you have no idea what is going on in the world. Chat Icon Chat Icon

As a working mom, I do get online some days to look at the news, but if I don't, I have no idea what's going on. I was in a meeting recently where someone made a comment about something Obama said or a photo he was in and I just smiled and laughed when I had NO clue what he was talking about.

This is one of those things I used to judge my mom friends about before I had a baby. That when we got together, we couldn't have a conversation about something that didn't have to do with husbands, kids or the house. Now I get it. Chat Icon

If I don't know.. I'll ask them to tell me about it. Sometimes friends are good sources of info!

I listen to NPR news for my morning drive and my ride home - so I am *usually* informed okay.

If I don't know, I confess. I have kept up with the news somewhat, though not as well as I used to do.

And I know what you mean about mom friends. I really try to talk about other things with my friends, especially those who do not have children (though some of them have cats or dogs, and the similarities between the pets and my 16 month old are more than you would think). But as a SAHM, there really aren't too many other things to talk about! I read a book now and then, and watch the news a bit, but honestly, other than DS and his antics, there isn't a whole lot more in my life at the moment. I usually don't mind, but it is hard to find conversation material.
