When people owe you money and it includes change........
do you ask for the exact change? Like, if it comes to $9.60, would you just ask for 9 or 10?
The other day a friend at work owed me money from food we ordered and I just took out the change she owed and said just to give me the dollar amount.
Today, I owed HER money and she asked for the 50 cents change that was included in the amount I owed her.
I thought that was kind of tacky, personally... but I'm just wondering what most people think!

I usually give them the receipt and I usually get the exact change but if there is no coins then I won't say anything, it doesn't bother me.

I would wait for change from a store but never from a co-worker. The way it normally works is if my co-worker needs money, I'll lend her a ten (or twenty). If she tries to give me change, I'll tell her to pay me when she has a ten (or twenty).
If she's rounding up on your order & then asking for exact amounts on hers, then if she says just give me the dollar amount - start rounding down when you pay her to even it out OR get your own food

I always just round up to the highest dollar when paying someone back if coins are involved. I hate carrying around coins so I just ask for the lower dollar amount

I never ask for the change, I usually round down or to the nearest $5 if we are talking a large amount. If it were $102.21. I'd say give me $100.
Do people actually carry change anymore  Even the parking meters in my area accept credit/debit cards now!

It irks me when people short change. If I'm going to the trouble of gathering the orders and picking it up the least they can do is give exact change or round up. Better to round up because prices are always changing and I end up being the one paying for peoples food.
This is why I don't participate anymore, too much stress.

I think what makes it tacky is that she wanted the exact amount from you, yet she was OK with giving you just the dollar amount.
I just go by dollar amounts. Your 50 cents isn't going to help or hurt me. And I figure when it's the other way around.... it all even's out in the end.
