When in a car accident which is better? Insurance related
I was rear ended Thanksgiving night...it was totally the other girls fault. She tried to get away a few times...I actually had to chase her down the road and block her in a few times. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital and then arrested for being extremely high on drugs and in possesion of drugs.
Her insurance company just called me and asked if we were going to deal with them or go through our insurance company. Is there a benefit to go through one or the other? If we go through mine there is a deductible...i'm thinking it would be better to go through hers to avoid paying that. Is that a smart move?

since its completely her fault, you should go through her ins company. then you wont have to pay anything, you wont have a deductible and it wont affect your ins. rates. I think you should tell your insurance company that you were in an accident for "reporting purposes only" just in case, for whatever reason the girl's policy is not active, or for some other reason something falls through. That sounds crazy though!! Did you get a police report? Im guessing that you did given that the ambulance came...
This happened to me 2 weeks ago (accident, completely the other person's fault, not the drug part lol)

Yes...we called our company the next day also. I don't have the police report in hand yet but the cop gave me the info I need to get it.

the police report will probably prove that she was completely liable. that will make your life easier. the person who hit me has countrywide and they have been pretty responsive.

I'm glad to hear you have Geico! They are pretty awesome when it comes to accidents and it's not your fault. They really fight and get things settled quickly.
