When I see roadkill

like deer (esp deer), raccoons, etc. - it bothers me for the entire day, sometimes days. I am so sensitive. I am also super alert esp driving at night in areas that I know they can be in.....

it's just so sad! I know, I'm sensitive. What triggered it today is a deer I saw driving to work. Chat Icon

There is a LOT of roadkill here in VA, especially deer Chat Icon
I saw one this morning on the side of the road, and it made me sick.

That makes me sad too. I especially hate when it's a domesticated animal because you know there is an owner somewhere waiting for their four legged friend to come home. When I used to bartend, I picked up at least 3 animals on the side of the road and took them to the emergency vet because they were left to die!

I know what you mean- since moving off LI we see more- I've gotten good at averting my eyes and I honestly don't go out at night so much anymore. Between worrying about deer and the way the roads are crappily lit, I don't feel safe. There are three deer who live in the woods down the block from me and I always worry about them. Chat Icon

I also saw a scary stat in Self magazine- that 56% of collisions with animals are fatal.
