When getting work done, who is responsible for paying for the inspection?
The contractor or the customer?

depends the permits were bundled in the price when my parents had the work done. If your contractor gave you a price with out them then you would be responsible.

As the HO you are responsible to make sure you have the permits. Some companies will include it in their price as an itemized fee.

If you're talking about the town inspector that comes to approve the work was done to code I don't believe there is any charge. Our contractor said he offered the guy a bottle of water and was told that they are not allowed to accept anything, even water, cannot even shake hands and are not allowed to ask to use the bathroom either. They basically come in, inspect, tell you if changes need to be made, and leave.

If it's from the Town, they do not charge.
