When DS wakes from his nap...
He can spend a good 45minutes just laying in his crib talking and making happy noises. I know its good to leave them there to entertain themselves, but sometimes I feel bad leaving him to himself for so long. Should I just let him be until he complians? He is 5 1/2 mos old.

That is so cute...and so cool. Lucas screams his head off the minute he opens his eyes. Sometimes he will be okay but will whine until I get there...then all smiles.
I say let him play...what a good little boy!

Both of my boys are like that. I leave them be and when they are ready they scream. It's so funny to listen to them babble in the monitor. The other night i woke up at 4AM to KEvin going Mama, baba, nana.....I had to LOL.

I wouldn't necessarily leave him until he complains but it's good to not just rush in there as soon as he wakes up. I'd let him be for a little while. If not, he'll get used to you rushing in there as soon as his eyes pop open. Believe me, you'll be happy for those extra minutes in the future when he is up and around.

DD is the same way. It works well for the mornings when I want to sleep in a little (7:15 is sleeping in  ). However, when she wakes up from naps, I usually go in after a few mins just because I figure I can bring her down here to play if I need to finish something up (granted, when she's mobile, I may feel differently!).

When I put DD down for a nap she sometimes will play instead of sleeping. I just leave her alone. My ped. said babies need some alone time to learn how to entertain themselves and mommy does too

My DD does this too! I let her babble and suck on her hands. She makes louder noises when she is ready to come out. She is almost 5 months.

Enjoy it!!! Caden cries before he is even fully awake and it only gets worse from there.....

We leave DS every AM. He's up around 6AM and we let him babble, play until almost 7. He seems pretty happy in there.
With naps, he goes down talking and he wakes up talking. I just leave him until the crying/fussiness begins.

DD does this in the AMs when she first wakes up for 20 min or so..I let her because she seems to enjoy her alone time

That's adorable! DS wakes up that way in the morning. I'll hear him on the monitor just talking to himself and playing with his pacifyer. He's usually good on his own for at least 1/2 hour. I just love listening to him.

My DD has been doing this lately too...she'll play w/ her teddy bear or her paci & lately she's kicking the FP aquarium to make it play music or to roll the toy. I let her play for 30minutes or so.
