when does separation anxiety begin?
for the baby
do you think at 5 months a baby can already have a preference for someone?

it's more of a stranger anxiety....fear of unknown. At 5 months they DO recognize familiar faces.
Seperation anxiety peaks at 10-18 months

I think 5 months is more of a stranger anxiety & a huge preference to be with their mothers. At least from my experience.

Jacob is 10 months and has both separation anxiety and stranger anxiety.. and actually a tad bit of mommy anxiety since he favors DH at the moment...
