When do you switch to an RE?
Sorry for all the questions, but Im trying to get ready and want to be prepared as to what I will be facing in the coming months.
When do you switch to an RE? I feel like Ive been for so much blood work already, doesnt it feel like starting back at square one once you switch doctors?

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
I am about to make the swicth myself. We have been TTC about 10 months now and I have some issues with my cycle. I am going for a sonohysterogram this week with my ob-gyn and will see what she suggests after that. I plan on making an RE appointment around the 1 year mark if not after this test.

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
If you know you have a problem such as PCOS then go straight to an RE, otherwise it would depend on your age. I think it's something like under 35 - one year and over 35 - six months of TTC.

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
Yes I have PCOS but my regular OBGYN is a "infertility" clinic too or so it says on their business card.

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
My regular OB/GYN does "infertility" too however I had to go to an RE because although he helped with IF..he doesn't do IUI or IVF which is what we needed. Your regular OB/GYN may be able to put you on clomid or metamorfin and see how it goes from there. Hopefully you won't need any further treatments than that. Good Luck.

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
Don't wait, go to an RE. I wish I had gone sooner, now I'm in year 7 of trying......
If they don't feel that you need to be there, they'll soon tell you.
Good luck

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
With your PCOS diagnosis, I say go to an RE right away. I think a lot of OBs say they are infertility docs, but an RE is your best bet. Good luck when you decide to TTC!

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
I agree with everyone, being that you have PCOS I would definitely see an RE. Good luck.

First you should get copies of all the blood work your current Dr has taken-some levels could fluctuate and you'd have to do those again but some levels are static. Everyone should have all copies of their bloodwork and testing results in their own file. This is your legal right and sometimes you may have to send a letter giving them permission toi fax over your records

Re: When do you switch to an RE?
At first I was seeing an ob/gyn who specialised in IF. After 6 months, I decided I wanted an RE.
I got copies of everything done in those previous 6 months for the RE - which ended up being helpful as he caught some stuff that was missed.
Good luck!
