When do you need to stop flying domestically?

I'm having a healthy, normal pregnancy, but getting a lot of pressure from work about upcoming business trips. There are two in particular they want me to do -- One I'll be 34 weeks for and another 36. They are not cross country and for a few days each.

I said I would ask my doc, but wasn't sure what other people had heard.

BTW -- one woman is being so nasty about it. I told her my doc may not permit me to fly and her response was, "Oh, so you just don't want to do the work." Rude.

Definetely check with your doctor, but mine wouldn't permit me to travel in my 3rd trimester. Especially if I were to be gone for a few days.

The airlines policy is no flying after 36 weeks without a note from your Dr.

My OB was fine with me flying up until that point (but, I made my last trip at 28 weeks for my first pregnancy).

Based on the rude comment though your co-worker made - I hope your Dr decides they want you to stop flying earlier than that!

I just asked my Dr about this and she stated no flying after 32 weeks... God forbid there is any type of emergency where you go into early labor you may not be able to receive the best medical care AND you wont be getting it from your Dr and your Hospital... Adn your baby will be in a NICU somewhere far from home... None of that is good circumstances...

I would say NO WAY to both those trips, your health and safety and the babies is way more important.

SIL traveled to CA for her brother's wedding at 34 weeks. We were all there for 7-10 days. She was fine and didn't have any complications during her pregnancy. I wouldn't feel comfortable traveling past that point though.

My doctor advised me to stop flying after 36 weeks.

I flew when I was 35 wks 4 days and stayed overnight in Michigan and NEVER again will I do that! I was fine but got so swollen from the air pressure and it didn't go away until after birth. I literally gained 30 pounds in my last month from water retention.

This time around I am flying at 29 wks and cutting it off after.

Thing is, if you are healthy and having no issues, your doctor may say it is ok for you to fly up until you are full term. If it makes you uncomfortable though, I don't see why s/he can't write a note excusing you from flying.

I was either 36 weeks or 37 weeks pregnant the last time I flew cross country. Most airlines you don't need a doctors note, but each airline is different so you have to check the rules.
