When do you announce?
I don't understand the whole "counting the weeks" thing. I guess I'm two weeks (fetus age) but other websites say I'm four-five weeks???? Anyway, how long should I wait to tell people? I think Christmas would be perfect, but I'm getting sooo antsy. Also, I'm nervous about chemical pregnancies. When do they occur or up until what point do they occur? Sorry about all of the questions.

Re: When do you announce?
Well, alot of people don't like to tell until they are out of their first trimester. Some wait until they hear the baby's heartbeat. It really depends on the person. We wanted to wait - but decided that we couldn't NOT tell our family - so we told people between 6-8 weeks.
Most doctors will count from the day of your last period - so take the weeks from that date.
A great book for you to get is Pregnancy Week by Week. It is very informative and I love that I can read what is happening the the baby every week growth-wise.
Hope that helps alittle. The girls on here know so much more than I do and are so helpful - so ask away!!!

Re: When do you announce?
The official count is from day one off your last period, hence it seems like two weeks (for those that ovulate on day 14) or a bit more is added on to the actual date of conception.
Telling people is up to you. Some wait for the week 12 Ultrascreen (end of 1st trimester) but some start to show earlier, have severe morning sickness or some other situation that causes them to have to tell earlier.
You can also tell people in stages. Our immediate family knew right away as we did IVF. I didn't want to tell work until at least week 12 but being pg with twins and having the worst lunch duty assignment caused me to have to tell administration earlier (week 8) because I needed to get taken off that duty (Can't be on my feet). Many co-workers were wondering how I got out of that lunch duty (Did I have compromising pictures of the principal??? ) so I had to tell them a few days later.
It's all up to you.

I agree with this a lot. You should just forget "gestational age" completely as really only you will use it. Your doctor will use the date based on your LMP so yes, this means they consider you pregnant before you are...makes little sense, but it's how they do it.
As for when to tell, that's up to you. With my first, I was told to start spreading the news by my dr. but I still waited until my 4th month. With this one, we simply couldn't hold it in [and I was showing relatively early] so we told at 6 weeks.
Congrats.
