When did your dr say to start giving water or something other than breastmilk or formula?
My dr told me not to at the 5 month visit and I didnt ask at the 6 month visit..dont they get thirsty?

DS had water when he was 3 months old b/c we flew and I wanted him to suck on something for his ears.
Then not again until we really started with the sippy, so around 10-11 months.
They don't really get thirsty and the water fills them up, so giving it isn't good.

I began adding an ounce of water here or there, around 7-8 months. But that was because he was so darn constipated. That's an entirely different issue.

at our apt this past tues DD's dr. said that we can give her water but no more than 4 oz unless it's a REALLY hot day. DD is 8 months

Gavin's been drinking water since 6 months and drinks about 4 ounces per day.....he really likes it.......

i started trying to give DD a bit of water at just a few weeks per doctors advice because she was having problems with #2...she hated it so I quit...I started again when she was 5.5 just to see if she would take it on the hot humid days when we are out at stores...and to help her out with going...she drinks a bit out of her sippy cup now...im going to say she has max of an ounce a day (not even every day though)

Dr said @ 9 months...but i gave water from 3 m onths to help with gas. He happens to love water now..especially on hot days..he drinks soo much!!

We've only been told to give her water twice, once when she had thrush to help clean out her system and then this past week because she has a really bad cold and again so it can flush out her system. My ped said they don't really recommend water because it fills them up and they won't drink as much formula. DD is 5 months.

My doctor said ok to water when he was born...DS did not like it..I started again when he was 6 weeks old and he liked it..I give it to him when he's fussy in between meals ...it helps him get rid of gas.
When I do give it to him..he drinks a little less than 2 ounces.

When he started eating cereals (6mo) ped said to give him some water and, if needed, diluted prune juice, to help with his consipation issue  We still do both but occassionally, he does not get either on a regular basis at 10 mo.
