When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

DS is a short napper. Usually 30-45 minutes about 3-4 times a day.

He's 5 months old.

Just curious if maybe he'd do better switching to a 2 nap schedule (say 9am and 1pm)?

When did your dc start taking only 2 naps a day?

Re: When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

I think around 4 months. Since then I've really been trying to stick to 9 and 1pm. She used to take a late afternoon short nap too but that stopped. At first, she wasn't sleeping long for the naps, but now she does 1.5 to 2 hrs in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon.

See i'm wondering if this will work better for my son because he wakes up from those "snaps" (short naps) so tired still.

Re: When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

I think it definitely will. It may take him some time to get used to it, but if you really stick to it and try not to let him fall asleep in between...it will work. He'll be so happy and rested Chat Icon

BTW are you still on the Alimentum? I knwo we talked about our pooping issues months ago. If you are, is he having probs now that you started solids?

Yup he's still on the Alimentum. Chat Icon

We just recently started solids. For weeks he wanted nothing to do with them. This past week or so we give him solids each night for dinner with his bottle. He hasn't had any pooping problems yet. Although he's only eaten peaches and sweet potatoes. Chat Icon

If he does, the ped said we can give him some water to help that along.

Re: When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

We definitely had Bella on a 2 nap schedule by this time...I think she was on it at like 3mths actually...

She would sleep at 8/8:30 and then at 1pm

So do you think we should try to adjust his and see if he does better on it?

What should we do... just lengthen his awake time in between each nap by like 15-30 minutes, gradually over a few days?

Re: When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

kaylie is 3mos and she is still napping 3-4x a day but they are muchhhhh shorter naps....one hour nap at 730ish/8am, another one hour nap at 1130ish/12 and then the last one is longer about 1 1/2hr nap at around 4ish and then she goes to sleep for the night at 730-8pm til 6am.....so she stays awake and not cranky tired awake for about 2 to 2 1/2hrs at a time ....i started thinking that maybe she should be staying awake longer and that maybe im putting her down to nap too much but she gets soooooo cranky and shows me tired signs that i know she needs a nap

You can try that.

With Bella, she kind of put herself on her own schedule. I just looked for the same signs every day and it worked out to those times.

I would work into it slowly and see how he does. But make sure he isn't overtired if your extending his wake time.

My Chat Icon is 6 months old and still can't stay up for more than 2 hours at a time. She ends up napping often due to that. She'll take about 3 naps a day sometimes 4. I still have to swaddle her to get her to nap for a decent amount of time. Unswaddled she's up in 30 minutes. Swaddled she sleeps for about 2 hours.

Re: When did your dc switch from 3-4 naps to 2?

Alexis takes 3 naps total.

2 short catnaps and 1 long nap during the day.
She only started to give me the long nap during the day about 3 weeks ago. She's 5.5 months old.

She take a good 3 hour nap. Otherwise the other 2 are about 25-40 min each.

Chat Icon i would keep with it, i know if i don't swaddle my DS for any reason he will only sleep for about 20 minutes Chat Icon

what works best for me is when i notice him getting cranky, i swaddle him and put him in his crib awake with the FP ocean wonders aquarium on and give him his pacifier. sometimes i have to go back in once or twice to put the paci back in but most times he is asleep within 5-10 minutes.

took me until week 8 or 9 to figure this out though Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
