when did your dc say momma/dada?
Jacen hasn't said either yet. I've heard him say da every once in a blue moon and i keep trying to get him to say it. But nope. He just smiles instead. Little booger! 
he'll be 9 months next week. Shouldn't he be saying one of them by now?
I know i shouldn't worry, but sometimes it makes me wonder since:
-he's not crawling (not even close- although he loves being in his walker)
-he just started rolling from his back to stomach (hated tummy time). Rolled from stomach to back though (early- 3 months)
-he doesn't clap (although he does high five)
-he doesn't say any words either. Used to babble around 5 months but has been screaming and screetching for a few months now instead.
Okay ladies... reassure me.

dada- 7months
mama- 8months
eta: all babies do milestones at different times. my dd started standing and trying to walk before she learned to crawl, which was about 9-10 months. I wouldnt worry about it.

I wouldn't worry.
DS is 11 months and has never said mama or even another remotely close to it.
He says "da da" but is just babbling. there is no connection that he is actually referring to DH at all.
As for crawling, my nephew never crawled. he went straight to walking at 1 yr old!
I know it's cliche, but every baby is different and will reach their milestones at a different age.

I don't believe she knew the meaning until around 9 months though.

Umm....I think our kids are twins. ALL of the above is exactly the same for us and she turned 8 months on the 15th....she does say HOLA though, LOL she says it all day long.

ITA, i find myself getting stuck in time frames and milestones reached, and i really have to take a step back and realize that each dc is different

She started "dada/daddy" at 7 months and quickly knew who she was referring to. A month or so later she started with "mamamama" and is only now starting to say it to me (at 9.5m).
I agree with PP, all kids reach milestones at different times, that's why the range is so huge. My daughter says "cat" & "ball" but doesn't really wave (it's sporadic) LOL
I don't think there's cause for concern right now...but if it would make you feel better, bring it up to his Ped at the 9m visit.
