Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

Immediately!!!!

I use cocoa butter. Nothing fancy (Palmer's) and it keeps a lot of the stretch marks away.

Once the baby is born I will be using Mederma Stretch Mark therapy, as recommended by my esthetician.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I started to put lotion on my belly when I first found out I was pregnant, but stopped bc the smell of my lotion made me nauseas.

I actually just started up again (16w) since my MIL just bought me oil, lotion, and a scrub from A Pea in the Pod.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I stated using Palmer's cocoa butter for strech marks immediately and don't have any strech marks on my belly. I don't know if it helped or not but I like to think it did and it doesn't smell which was a plus.

I use olay bar soap but that's pretty much it. I know I've had stretch marks in the past from when I'm fat and nothing helped prevent them, and so far I haven't gotten any new ones (all of mine are faded to white/ skin color at this point from back then) but I just hate the feeling of lotion or oil on me.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

immediately w/ cocoa butter and vitamin e! i haven't had stretch marks yet from the PG, but i'm sure i'll get them. when i was in 10th grade, i went from a 34 A to a 34 D (late bloomer, but boy did i bloom!), and got terrible stretch marks. i'm hoping to prevent anything quite like that experience again, but we'll see if that actually works!

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I started around 17 weeks....I got the palmers cocoa butter in the big round tub. Best stuff ever!

It's so stick and gooey! I only use it like twice a week. And use it before bed bc your clothes will stick to you, since it takes hours to soak in.

But so far-no stretch marks at 25 weeks. But I think that's genetic.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I didn't. Stretch marks are genetic; cocoa butter isn't going to prevent them. That said, my skin is super itchy from being so dry, and it fixes that up very quickly!

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I lotioned from day 1 bc I always lotion my body - no stretch marks. The lotion really helped with the itch from stretching...

That said, like the PP stated, stretch marks are genetic, if you're predisposed to get them, no amount of lotion or oil will prevent them.

you can get it at cvs/walgreens types of places

i used bio oil on scars (i get keloids) and it actually helped soften them - it's made for scars and stretch marks so i figured it can't hurt to rub it on my belly and boobs...i've been doing bio oil after showers and i'm going to do cocoa butter during the day...

i agree that if you are going to get stretch marks there is really nothing you can do about it - but i do believe that moist skin is going to stretch easier and will be less itchy than dry skin. even though i may end up with stretch marks (b/c i have them in other places) i still think it's better to keep my skin as healthy and hydrated as possible.

I've always lotioned my whole body up after a shower, so I was doing it from day 1. I do not have any stretch marks.. other than 3 little ones on each one of my hips. I don't think those were avoidable, though. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much lotion you put on, they are inevitable for some.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

I've always used a moisturizer post-preggo, so I continued to slather on the same stuff when I got my BFP. It just happened to be Vitamin E based (but I really don't think any cream will prevent stretch marks--they seem to be genetic).

I'm currently out of my favorite stuff and someone gave me some Palmer's stuff, including Tummy Butter. I've been using that because I love the way it smells. So far no stretch marks, but like I said, I don't think I can credit the creams.

Re: when did you start rubbing stuff on your belly

i used it right away. Bella B Organic Oil. I like the oils better then the butters. They are so much nicer to put on and dont leave your hands all slimy.

I am at 40 weeks 3 days with no stretch marks yet. I carried pretty small (in the belly area)though. I think its genetics/how big you carry.

And most people i know that did get them, eventually they faded away with the help of Vitamin E rubbed on them Chat Icon
