When did you move to the convertible seat?
I feel like Rylan is getting to big for his infant car seat and want to switch to a convertible. When did you make the switch? How old and how many pounds? Thanks!!

We made the switch a little more than a month ago. DD was 5 months old 18lbs at the time, and I was just tired of carrying her in the Snugride.
Now I have to put the convertible in my babysitter's car too bc DD has reached the height capacity (29 inches).

We switched at about 6 months old. DD was just getting too big for the infant seat and it was too heavy for me as well.

Gracie was 6 months & just too heavy for me to carry in the infant seat & she was very long so her legs were really out of the carrier.
I'm not sure on the pounds, maybe 16?

Both DC were on the smaller side, so we kept them in there until maybe 8 months or so...  They were well under the weight and height limits of the carrier. Height and weight are the major factors, not age.

you should check the limits for your particular car seat. different brands and models have different limits. mine goes up to 22 lbs and 30 inches, but i know that most seats are less than that. even if the seat gets too heavy to carry you could still just leave it in the car. that's what i've been doing with my DD. she's so heavy to lug around, but it's nice to still have the infant seat in the car to take out when we're going shopping or something since she can't sit up yet.

He still fits in the seat as far as the weight and height limits. It's just that he hates the car seat and I think it's because he's so squished in there. I also feel like i'm fighting to get him out of it sometimes...like he's stuck in there...lol. 95% of the time I don't take the infant seat into the store...he loves to sit up in the stroller and look around.

The last time DD was fully measured she was 26 1/2 inches and 17 lbs 10 oz. by now she has to be close to 20 lbs. I still have her in the infant carrier even though it is very very heavy and hard for me to carry for a few reasons. First, I just have the snap-n-go, and second I have a two door car, and trying to get her in and out of a car seat will be a royal PIA. I'm sure next month at her check-up she will be almost at the height/weight limits and I will have to switch. By then I hope to have another stroller.

You can switch anytime. The convertible carseat actually goes from 5Lbs+ so it's usuable at birth.
The only reason would you want to keep the infant carseat is for convenience in and out of the car.
We switched DS a bit after 8 months. I could not do it anymore. It was 27 Lbs with him in it. He was border line in heigth with his head.

 Ayla was 10 months when i moved her in the convertable. it was right before Amelia was born b/c I need the infant seat for her.
BUT I will move Amelia into hers much sooner than 10 months b/c she like holding a brick. I'll probably do it in a month or 2.

I took both my kids aout of the infant carrier at 2-3 months. They would always cry and get so hot and I felt it was too confining. They both did much better in the car once I switched to the convertible seart.

DS is still in his at 8 months, but he's getting big for it. Nowhere near the 30 lb. weight limit, but he may be near or over the height limit.
And it's heavy--he must be about 20 lbs., and I really don't think I can carry it much longer!

Are you sure the limit is 30 lbs? All the ones I've seen are either 20 or 22 lbs. I can't imagine anyone carrying a 30lb DC and a 10lb carrier in one hand!  I'm not even sure if I could do that....
