When did DC stop sleeping in the crib?

Im pregnant with #2 and DC will be 22 months when #2 is born and sharing a room, should I buy another crib? The one is a convertable. Just curious when your DC was done with the crib? TIA

Re: When did DC stop sleeping in the crib?

We converted DD's crib to the toddler bed at 3y 3m old. She loved her crib and never tried to get out so we were in no rush. She is still in the toddler bed but #2 is coming in March so sometime before then we will be moving her crib into the baby room and getting her a twin bed. Chat Icon

When did DC stop sleeping in the crib?

At 19 month. After trip to Europe DS wanted to have nothing to do with his crib.
We skipped toddler bed and went straight to a twin size one.

DS was 2 (almost to the day) when he climbed out of his crib. We made the transition to a toddler bed the next day.

just this past week, 28 months! NO problems whatsoever with the switch! He is sleeping better I think! Much more room to spreadout. Straight to full size bed.

Re: When did DC stop sleeping in the crib?

We converted our crib to a toddler bed when DS turned 3. He outgrew the crib and the toddler bed is just to hold him over until we buy him a twin size bed (another few weeks).

He never tried to climb out, and we didn't have another child on the way, so there was no rush.

I wouldn't buy another crib for your second DC. You can buy a toddler bed for your first and put guard rails up, or you could spring for the twin bed now. Twin beds aren't that cheap and could cost as much as a new crib, and the twin bed would be inevitable at some point anyway.

FWIW, our crib converts to a full size bed also, but it would overtake our son's room, so we we'll probably never actually use it as a full size bed anyway.
