When can I stop pumping before bed?
DD suddenly started STTN as I had just begun the weaning process. I had dropped one feeding a day, then moved on to a second. That's what I became majorly engorged - most likely due to one night I forgot to pump before bed and had a mild case of mastitis that I was able to fight pretty quickly.
I'm scared as heck to get mastitis again...I'd really love to stop pumping but I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to do it.
After having recovered, I went back to giving her two bottles, but I'm still pumping at night to be on the safe side. Any advice out there?
TIA!

Ohh -great question. I'd love to know too as I am thinking about stopping the BF since DS has basically been telling me he won't even try anymore.

Re: When can I stop pumping before bed?
When I weaned with DS, I had to gradually stretch my time between pumping sessions. I wasn't able to just drop a feeding because I became too engorged. (It works for other people, but it didn't work for me!) Originally I was pumping every 3 hours and then I stretched it to every 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, then twice a day and eventually once a day. By the time I got to once a day, so little milk was coming out that I just stopped pumping. I stretched my pumping times week by week, but you can just as easily do it every few days to wean quicker. That's what worked for me - painless and no clogged ducts/issues.

Re: When can I stop pumping before bed?
when i stopped i dropped pumps in the middle of the day essentially stretching the time between, but when i got down to two pumps a day i reduced the time at the pump instead of the stretched between...
Also CABBAGE LEAVES... they helped greatly, particularly at night
