When can I start kick count?

I was getting a little nervous because I started feeling the baby at some point every day last week (25 weeks) especially after I ate and when I laid down. After her two most active days, I had a day and a half that were pretty quiet. I'm now 26w6d. I started worrying a little but tried not to get too paranoid. Then last night I had some jelly beans (maybe a little more than some) and she kept me up for at least an hour while I was trying to go to sleep. Haha!

I chose not to worry too much because I know it's still a little early to track constant movement. Anyone do kick counts and when can I start?

i never did them and i delivered at 33w. its totally normal to feel it sporadically before 30w. a lot also depends where the placenta is.

Re: When can I start kick count?

IF your OB wants you to do kick counts, you won't start before 28w at the earliest. However, many OBs no longer ask patients to do them.

It's very normal to have a day or so where you don't feel much, particularly if you were active and running around. You're most likely to notice the baby's movements when you're lying down, relaxing. Also, you'll notice your baby gets into patterns - so you'll see certain times of each day when the baby is very active.

When can I start kick count?

I had issues with LO moving and went to the dr. They said that I should have some sugar and lay down and count for 5 movements in an hour. If I haven't felt them in an hour, start another hour trying for 5 movements. If nothing, then call them. Sometimes they move, but you're so busy that you don't notice! If you're concerned, I'd try counting for an hour after some sugar or juice and if you are not feeling much, call the doctor!
