Re: When can an infant fly?
I think it has to do when YOU are comfortable with her flying. Call your ped to get a better answer as well. Personally I would fly my mom up instead, if at all possible.

Re: When can an infant fly?
My pediatrician said 3months. She is very conservative though.
Can DH take her for a ittle while so you can get some sleep?
Good Luck.

Re: When can an infant fly?
I think it depends on you and your ped. I was reading on the Southwest website that they won't allow babies under 14 days (I think) fly. They even require a birth certificate to prove that the infant is not below the minimum age.

Re: When can an infant fly?
I am so silly. When I read the post title I was thinking of that game when you hold the baby over your head and zoom them around.
As for flying in an airplane, I would ask your pediatrician. I know of a lot of people who've done it with 6 mo old babies but I don't know about less then that.

Re: When can an infant fly?
When my friend adopted from Utah, she flew her 4 day old home. My other friend's husband is a pilot, so her son was flying at a few weeks ol. While ultimately your pediatrician is the person who can answer for you, the real answer is whatever you're comfortable with.
Planes have recycled air. I would probably opt out of flying longer than most moms. Mainly because I've had too many hospital visits with my kids when they were young (RSV, spinal taps, etc).
I would rather have my mom fly up & help me if it was an option. I'd have to fly back with an infant who was in an unfamiliar place & is now off schedule with laundry & a house that hasnt been cleaned.

Re: When can an infant fly?
I think, in light of all the issues we've had with Katie, that I'll just ask my Mom to come to me this time and plan a trip when the baby is older..and happier!
