when and how do you wean them off teh pacifier?

Is it bad for them to use when they get their teething?Also how do you wean them off. she really only uses it to sleep she is 15 months

DS gave his up cold turkey on his own at around 19 months. DD is 19 months now, and she only "needs" it when she finds one. Out of sight, out of mind with her. She'll go the entire day without one if it isn't handy.

1 year old. We planned to do it then. Then one night I put Kaitee to bed and handed her her paci and she handed it back and she hasn't had it since. We went cold turkey. I have caught her a few times with the babies paci in her mouth though
