What's with all of the comments
I swore I would not let this happen to me, but the past week or so I’ve gotten several comments from people (both family/friends and work) about how “big” I am and how I must be having a big baby. I’m not sure how to take it. I mean, obviously my belly is getting big. I’m having a baby for crying out loud. I definitely have gained weight but I didn’t think I looked that huge. I don’t get how some people can tell me how great I look and then others look at me and need to push their eyes back into their sockets.
The thing is, it wasn’t easy for me to get pregnant, so when I finally did, I didn’t care what kind of a toll it took on my body. I’ve been so thrilled to be lucky enough to be here. And up until now, I shrugged off all of the comments and I even stopped looking at the scale at 12 weeks. I told my husband and anyone who asked that if the Doctor didn’t see a problem, then I wasn’t going to stress myself out over it. But today at work, someone just said “wow, are you having twins?? You have such a big belly!” and I went back to my desk and teared up. This is after a weekend of comments from other people too. I’m so disappointed with myself for even letting it get to me, but seriously – how much can you take before it wears you down?!?! Someone even asked me why I don’t wear clothes that are more drapey and less clingy? *****???? I told the person that all the books and magazines I read say that in today’s day and age it’s totally acceptable to embrace your curves and that all of my clothes are maternity clothes so if they are manufacturing them, then it must be ok.
Way to get me down huh?

It makes me really sad when people say insensitive things. I am so sorry that people have been making those type of comments to you. I say you should smack the next person who even attempts to make you feel bad about your body.

aww im so sorry they are saying these things to you. it's very insensitive. i dont know what gives people the right to make comments about weight/clothing just because someone is pregnant.
ETA: my mil commented on my facebook on some pics of me saying she loved seeing pics of her "slightly chubby" DIL. well i deleted her comment. i didnt appreciate that at all.

Re: What's with all of the comments
People have NO IDEA the way their comments sound to us. We are so sensitive about how we look because it is OUR BODIES being taken over by something out of our control. It's wonderful but it also makes you a target for stupid comments.
One of my closest friends just said to me today that I had a "BIG HUGE BABY BELLY!" OK, not the best way she could have said it ... but at this point I feel like I've heard it all.
Just ENJOY being pregnant and the changes your body is going through! This is a once in a lifetime event (OK, maybe twice or thrice - you get the idea)! It is a wonderful time and just enjoy it for what it is - don't let the stupid comments get to you! There will be MANY!

Re: What's with all of the comments
I know it sounds extreme, but when people make comments like that and it hurts your feelings and makes you tear up...cry RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. Embarrass the $hit out of them and let them know that those sort of comments are hurtful as hell.
People never think before they speak and do not understand how it can be to be going through all the changes in your body, and have stupidity thrown at them.
I have no problem saying "well that was incredibly rude." You'd be surprised at how many people sincerely just do NOT realize it until it is pointed out. Once it is pointed out, they are quite contrite and likely won't say something stupid like that to anyone ever again.

Re: What's with all of the comments
Thanks guys. I appreciate the reassurance. I feel like such a dope bc here I am all happy go lucky about being pregnant, and i'm actually letting mindless comments get to me. I know that people don't mean to be insensitive but man, they should have filters for some people's mouths!!
Friday I went for a bikini wax (haven't been since about 10 weeks pg) and the girl I see regularly said that I "put on the weight"(spoken in a polish accent) and that usually skinny girls stay skinny but I definitely gained. . I would have kicked her in the face if she hadn't been so busy spreading hot wax on my hoo-ha! I think sometimes people think that having an accent is their filter.

Re: What's with all of the comments
Ughh, I'm sorry I really don't get why people are so insensitive! I clicked your profile to see if you had any pictures and just looked at them. Honestly you look fantastic!! Not even close to huge. Don't let people get you down, apparently when you get pregnant people feel like it's free reign to say idiotic things.
P.S. Love your wedding picture, I got married at Oheka too!

Re: What's with all of the comments
I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that!!! People are so insensitive at times. I'm pregnant with my 2nd now, but I remember when I was pregnant with my 1st OMG the stuff that would come out of peoples mouth. People (mostly annoying family) would say I'm so fat. And even after I had DD the DAY I came home from the hospital I had a slight pouch in the stomach are, some people actually had the nerve to ask me if I'm sure there's not another baby in there because I still had a belly... UGH!! I know its easier to say than do but try not to let people get to you. And I'm all for embracing your curves during your pregnancy!!! This is a beautiful time in your life no need to hide behind a MooMoo!!

Re: What's with all of the comments
Ugh. People are stupid. That's all.
I just took a look at the pics in your album out of curiosity, and you look fantastic! From the angles we can see, anyway, you look "all belly" - that's every pregnant woman's dream! And of course that belly is big and getting bigger - there's a growing baby in there!
You're right: you went through a lot to have this baby. You have every right to embrace the curves she's giving you and not hide behind things that are "drapey." For the record, "drapey" actually makes you look fatter anyway; it's terribly unflattering.

Re: What's with all of the comments
I get the "you're all belly" daily and I know that they mean "you're belly is really big." It really does get annoying. I stress over it and spend way too much time comparing myself to other people that are pregnant and how big I should be. People just don't realize that even though this is what happens when your pregnant, we don't need to be reminded or feel self conscious about it.
I'm sure you look great.

I agree with you. I know most people feel bad to call someone out but you know what if that person has no problem calling YOU out, do it back

Re: What's with all of the comments
The only reason you might look big is because you are all belly because you're super thin. People don't know how to say that without sounding like an a**.

Re: What's with all of the comments
It' hard, but you just have to grow a thick skin.
I gained like 60lbs with my son. I remember it was like April and someone said to me "So, you are due this month?" And I said, "No, July" and she said "Oh goodness, there must be more than one in there" Nooooo, there isn't.
About a month ago I was doing the 3 hour glucose test and the lab tech said to me "Are you sure you aren't having twins, you're belly is so big" I said "Actually, I am having twins" so she says "Wow, you look great for twins" Now clearly that's not true, you are just trying to get your foot out of your mouth.
Hang in there. It happens to all of us!!
