What's the deal with moms and RSVPing???
I am curious is this the "norm" now? My dd gave out invitations for her party in her dance class (moms all saw them). 7 were invited and 3 rsvped all yes and the remaining never acknowledged etc and the date has long passed to RSVP. And these are all moms I sit with week after week. I don't care if the child can't make it but just say no. DD can't make every party she's invited to but I always make sure I let the parent know.
Is this normal???

I just had a party for DD and had a few people that didn't rsvp. They didn't show either. I hope its not the norm! I have been a few days late but never not rsvp'd at all.

What I thought was also strange is one of moms was making a big deal of getting everyone's number Bc her DD's bday is August and she wants to invite the class and she asked me for mine but never mentioned my D's invite

Re: What's the deal with moms and RSVPing???
ugh, not looking forward to dealing with this crap this school year. I'd probably end up calling all of the non-responders (subtly letting them know that they are rude) letting them know that they are past the rsvp date and wondering if they received the invite

So annoying and rude. Mine are not school age but even my family and friends don't RSVP. I always have to track people down. When you invite 50 people to a party and 20 RSVP it's really hard to figure out what you need. Most of my family just send email and text invites, which I always respond back to. I always do photo invitations and thank yous because I like them as keepsakes for their baby books.

Ugh we invited 110 people to DD's 1st birthday and only 20 have responded. I doubt I'm going to get anyone else to respond either... LOL...

So the norm unfortunately. I had to hunt down members of DH's family for DS' christening. Some of them even said "Oh I didn't know I had to respond" ... Yeah, the RSVP on the bottom was more of a suggestion than anything

@ starlitdragon... LOL... suggestion.
Yeah you just want to supply food, drinks and party favors for 100 people "just in case".

I was just going to say this. I find that my days are so busy that I tend to forget to make phone calls unless I write it down or set an alarm to remind myself. lol. But I do get on the computer (it's my "me" time) while DD is napping. So if there's an e-mail address included I'm a lot more likely to send a quick note with my yay or nay. Although in your case, they saw you often enough so it seems weird not to just tell you face-to-face. If you have their e-mail addresses you could always send them a quick note (rather than having to make annoying phone calls). Although I will say that a phone call to ask if they're coming would definitely be a way to remind them of how inconsiderate they've been to not let you know already.
I hope they just forgot and aren't that rude

I HATE rsvps. My dd's baptism is next weekend and out of 100 people invited I had to track down 70 and most responded you know I'm coming. No, I am not going to assume.

It's becoming the norm it seems. I think people are so busy, they really can't RSVP until the last minute. Just follow up with everyone so you have a head count.

Re: What's the deal with moms and RSVPing???
Apparently it is the norm ...however it is beyond rude in my opinion.... I sent dd birthday invites out with ample amount of time for them to RSVP...some did ..some i had to hunt down after the three week rsvp date i stated in the invite...then when i thought i had a head count ...today the day of the party 4 kids never showed up two i got a text from this morn an yesterday ..the other two just never showed ...and one i made a gift bag who didn't show cause they told me they " would try to make it so i went out of my way to get party favors and little party dress up things for the child so if they did show she wouldn't feel left out ...fast forward to today ...i have that favor and goodies in my trunk .....RUDE ...why waste money of invites when people don't respond.????.,,!,!,!,! Rant over ..sorry to hoard on your post ..but that hit a nerve from just having her party

What's the deal with moms and RSVPing???
RSVP date for my daughter's party was yesterday. I had email, call or text and still didn't hear from some people.
This morning I emailed the 3 parents I do have contact information for to see if they are coming.

Same here. I know I prefer to respond by email as well. (But I'm anti-social. )
ETA: just noticed you said you used an email addy.

What's the deal with moms and RSVPing???
I don't know if it is the norm or not but i am a late rsvp'er.
We were invited to a bday party for family. The week of the rsvp DS had pneumonia, so at that time I legitimately did not know if we were going. Did not really matter in my opinion because there were no favors given out to kids and there was nothing served that my 18 month old would havs eaten.
Another party I rsvp'ed to at the last minute because it was a baby shower and my son was not invited. My sitter for the day was not sure what would happen with her son's baseball playoffs. I have no backup. So I did not know until the last minute. And even once I did rsvp I still almost had to cancel. When I send out invites I hope people let me know they are coming. I know who will be coming even if I don't hear from them. There are certain people who get invites but I know they won't be coming. And the there are others that are 50/50. When ordering food I usually land in the middle of who I know is coming and how many were invited. For DS' s birthday I invited 75, knew that 25 were definite ordered food for 55 (did cold cut platters from the deli, used them before and know they are heavy on their portions). Ultimately had about 65 people come, still had plenty of food/drinks and some leftovers ( enough for DH to take kunch to work for the week). It all works out.
I can see it is more of a problem if the party is out somewhere.
But I agree it is rude, even though I am guilty of doing it.
