What would you say?
I was at the park this weekend and my kids (a 3 and a 5 year old) were playing with a little boy and girl. Not sure it matters but the boy looked to be around 7 and the girl maybe 4. They were there with what looked like a teenage older brother.
I was chasing my 1 year old around but the girl came over to me and asked me if I hit my kids. I responded to her but was curious, how in the world would you answer that question?
(Not really asking about hitting kids, just how would you answer her question. I would have no problem answering if it were my own child and so that is the answer I gave the girl, but I felt weird about it, maybe overstepping. It also felt wrong to just ignore her.)

I guess I would say I didn't. Odd question, but 4 year olds ask odd questions!

I’d probably just say “No I don’t, why do you ask?”
I don’t think it’s a crazy question for a 4 year old. Maybe she saw something about it on tv or overheard a conversation about it.. who knows.

This! My twins are 6 and some of the questions they have asked strangers, I could've died. . One of them once asked a man if he brushes his beard because it was "long and fluffy". My other twin once asked a woman who was wearing a Muslim headwrap if he could see her hair. She was very nice and said no and he said ok, but does she have other color scarves for her hair? LOL. They had a long conversation about all the scarves and colors she has. He said ooh, I want to see the glitter ones.
