What would you do?

We recently had issues with our refrigerator. We had it services 4 times through the company we purchased it at and the 5th time we needed to call them in they gave us the purchased amount to but a new one at the store.
The original one is only 5 year old. We purchased the same model making sure it is the exact same size bc we have a large set of stairs leading up to our kitchen. The stairs make a sharp turn and I was concerned about the size.
The salesperson assured us it was the same size and would be fine. The day of delivery the moving guys said it was too big and tehy would not deliver it. We went back to the store and picked out a smaller one and scheduled delivery.
They came back and still said no that they would need 4 people to drliver it and take the old one out.
We rescheduled delivery and they were suppsoed to send 4 guys.
They sent 3 different guys who did n't seem worried about getting the old one out.
They started to take it out and realized it was going to be a tight fit. They really didn't seem to plan ahead and just pushed through. In the process, they damaged my walls- some black scuffs and about 4 larger gouges.
When I asked about the wall damage, the guys said well you can just repaint. He said it woulod come back to him as a complaint if I said anything to the company and if it was him he would just repaint.
My walls are floor to ceiling in the entry so its a PIA to "just repaint".
What would you do?

I would complain.....the fact that it would come back to him shouldn't even be an issue.

I think if it didnt fit through your doorway that is not their fault and nothing they could have done would have changed that. If it didnt fit, it didnt fit.

I think you both bear some responsibility in the situation. I would not complain and would fix it on my own.

Re: What would you do?

I’d complain.. I had a tight fit for my washer/dryer, but they wrapped those things with sheets and bubble wrap to ensure no damage to my machines or walls. If they damaged something at that point, I would have accepted responsibility, but if they didn’t even attempt to protect things, then that’s on them.

I would complain. You made it known it was a weird space and it’s not your fault they said no problem and passed the problem to someone else.
Did they remove the doors? Also sounds like the guy is being an a** saying it would get back to him, so what. You made it known to him.

I think the only reason I am considering saying something is that they same company delivered the same size refrigerator the last time with no issues. They had 4 guys last time and they lifted it up over my banister.
We told them that when we purchased the new one at the store and they said no problem.

It fit through my doorway without any problem. It is the turn of my stairs that is the issue. When we had the original one delivered a few years ago, they had 4 guys and they lifted it over the banister to make the turn.
Imagine the Friends situation- PIVOT Chat Icon
but they made it work.
I guess I'm just annoyed that these guys just barreled down the stairs with the fridge and then seems to realize they were stuck and had to push through.

I would absolutely complain. This is totally ridiculous. It should take one shot to deliver the fridge. If it was something completely unusual and unanticipated, fine. A second delivery is warranted but by then the kinks should be worked out. I would definitely make a stink based on the inconvenience alone.

Exactly. Eff the shit.
Repaint? That's a huge inconvenience when THEY damaged your walls.
Nope.
Call and complain

They should not have damaged your walls. Complain for sure.
