What would you do?
I am 30 weeks and have been having a horrible time at my job for a while. They are not nice people and if someone leaves they choose to make their lives miserable.
I have hyperemisis and have toughed it out with a combo of Zofran and puking in the garbage can, my boss wouldn't even let up a little bit on smoking his cigars and lately they have been just horrible to me. The stress has been causing me to have braxton hicks contractions.
So, I spoke to my doctor and she said she can put me out on disability. DH is thrilled (he hates my job) and financially it wouldn't be easy, but it could work...
I have just been working for ten years and I almost feel like a quitter, but then on the other hand I should put my body and my child first. I just don't know. HELP!

Re: What would you do?
If you can do it financially and your doc will put you on disability, I would do it. I think you will be glad you chose to stop.
I had to go out at 34 weeks because of my blood pressure, and I was anxious about the money situation and disappointed to have to stop then, but it's been a blessing. I think you're going to get to the point soon where the pregnancy will make you more uncomfortable physically, and the situation at work will make things worse. I love my job, but I am now grateful that things went as they did. For the last couple weeks, I've had a terrible time sleeping, getting comfortable, and even walking is really hard. So if I were you, I'd stop.

Re: What would you do?
i would absolutely stop. you and dh will "make it work," i'm sure. the toll on your mental, physical and emotional well being this job is causing isn't worth any amount of money!!
good luck and allow yourself to rest and take care.

Do what you need to do to take the best care of you and the baby! If you can make it work financially, you will be in such a better place physically, mentally and emotionally! Good luck!

i think you should be kind to yourself and take the time on disability.
you hate your job anyway, you said - and you don't owe them anything.
you aren't a quitter, you're just doing what's right for you (and therefore your baby!)
i say go for it

If it were me - I would leave. You and your baby are the most important thing and it sounds like this is a toxic env. for both of you! If you can make it work - GO FOR IT - and DO NOT FEEL GUILTY! I think it is great you made it this long! I wouldn't have!

Re: What would you do?
Honestly, if you can afford it, go on disability.
On a side note, how is your boss allowed to smoke cigars in a work environment?

He isn't "allowed" he just does. He has had the health department called on him and he just doesn't care. It's sad really, he has no regard for anyone. The other law firms on my floor are disgusted that I have to sit right next to his office all day long and they just don't care.
Thanks ladies I just feel like I won't be contributing to my household, but that is silly, right?

Don't you worry about that now. You ARE contributing to your health and your baby. That's the most important. Otherwise, what's the point to being so careful the entire pregnancy. Once the baby is born you can always "make up" a little bit by getting a different job if you wanted to.

Re: What would you do?
I would def go out on disability. I hated my old job and thank goodness I went out on disability almost 3 months before Andrew was born.
Then when I was on maternity leave I found a new job
Good Luck

Re: What would you do?
GO on disability. I understand. I didnt know how we would make it work, but we have and you will too. The stress is NO good for you at this stage. Why be miserable. You will find a way to make it work.
