What would you call her?

We are going to Disney (TOMORROW AHHH ) with my mom, MIL and DHs Aunt.

Now his aunt is his uncles new wife. They have been married for about 7 years. She signs all her cards Aunt Carol but I don't think I can remember DH calling her "aunt". Is it ok if I just call her Carol or would that be not right since she is worthy of a "title"?

Do you call your DH's aunts and uncles "AUNT XXX AND UNCLE XXX"?

yes, Tio and Titi, even the ones that are less then 5 years older than me.

I don't even call my own Aunt "Aunt" since I got older. I just call her by her name- so maybe I am not the best example, but I don't think she woudl get offended by calling her by her name. I met DH's aunt (one of about 30- i am not exaggerating) and I just called her by her name.

I call DH's aunts and uncles by their first name

I call all of them by first name only.

I call them Aunt and Uncle so and so....BUT the ones that were recently married , neither of us, me nor DH say Aunt or Uncle. Its too weird and too new. In your situation I would call the Uncle ..Uncle so and so and the wife by her first name

If she signs her cards "Aunt Carol" then she wants to be called that. I would call her Aunt Carol.

I would call her Carol. But, the kids could address her as Aunt Carol.

My Uncles ex-wife is still in my life. I've been calling her Aunt since I was a kid. But, her boyfriend of 15 years is just Pat. But, if I send a card from the kids it's Uncle Pat.

I try not to call her anything but when I HAVE to I call her "mom" but it just sounds so wrong to me

I call my Aunts and uncles and Dh's Aunt and uncles's Aunt & Uncle. but in a similar situation my aunt who got married 3 years ago to a guy name frank I just call him by his first name i really dont think of him as a Uncle I can never bring myself to calling him that he is not a favorite of mine! sorry i dont mean to be mean but so true i have my reasons if youwant to know Fm me!

My DH calls his uncle's second wife by her first name even though they've been married for a long time. DH doesn't consider her his aunt. I think it's fine to call her by her first name if that's what makes you more comfortable.

I never really call them anything if I can get away with it. If I must refer to them, I do call them Aunt/Uncle or not, depending on how close I am with them.


I also agree that the children should call her aunt.

Have you asked your husband about this?
