What window treatments in this room?
What window treatments go with this room? We have white shutters on the bottom of the windows but need something at the top. The walls are no longer red. They're BM Old Navy with white molding and we have a rustic wooden American flag on one wall (from PB) so there is a touch of red in the room but I really don't want to introduce another color. Couch and rug are below. Should I go with a solid white valance? Would navy blue toile work? Any other suggestions?

Not sure if this would be too much pattern...
Other than that, I think white valances would look great.

Re: What window treatments in this room?
The room does look a lot different now
I think Roman shades would look nice. They would give you privacy and you wouldn't have to worry about DS messing with drapes.
Then later when both DC's get older you could add panels if you wanted.
Your house looks like a Pottery Barn showroom
I'm envisioning cream with navy border.
OR - maybe since you already have shutters, do a valance at the top?

I was hoping you'd see this because you've seen the room in person and I love your taste
Funny enough, the whole time I was envisioning the cream and navy border roman shade PB used to carry (i have them with the khaki border from a few years ago) but now I cant find them anywhere and it totally threw me off
Now I'm thinking a valance but I'm not sure what won't clash with the stripes... I like the blue gingham laurabora posted and I'm thinking navy blue toile might also work.
FYI the room no longer looks like the tazmanian devil inhabits it I finally got all his toys organized in a toy box and book shelves!
ETA: it looks like a PB showroom bc I'm lazy and the catalog is always handy

Do you want to expose the plantation shutters? or cover them?

I want the shutters to be seen but the couch pulls out so we'll prob use it for guests so I need something to block the sun on top when people sleep there. If we do a valance, we'll get roller shade for underneath. If we did a Roman shade, it would be up the vast majority of the time.

I went to look for them and didn't see them either. what the heck? I also looked on JCP and they didnt have anything like that either. So weird...I feel like they have them recently.

Re: What window treatments in this room?
Smith + Noble has some fabrics that may work and a few different style roman shades.
You can also do a solid color with a border.
Woven shades may also look nice and if you ever changed the color in the room they would still work.
I also love Balloon shades and valances, but not sure if it would go.
Found these PB ones on Ebay

This is soooo close to the PB ones I had in my head! I wonder if I could do a navy border? Thank you for introducing me to my new favorite site I need curtains in EVERY room in the house except the kitchen!
What do you think of these?

I really like this one if you are going with Roman Shades. Are you walls still red or did you paint them?

Oh, ok. Maybe a blue or neutral roman shade with white sheer panels on each side of each window. The roman shade will give you the privacy when you need it and the white sheer will softly break things up.

Re: What window treatments in this room?
Would navy blue toile work? I think a boxc valance with a red piping or band in navy toile would be perfect above the shutters. I would probably bring it up to close to ceiling hight and just covering the top of the window frame.
