what will an RE do?
I have an appt to see an RE at NSUH soon and I just want to know what I should expect. I got a packet to fill out for my DH and I and he had a SA done. All was fine with him.
What will they check for at the appt? when I saw my OBGYN she said that I ovulate and I don't have any ovary or tube damage. I have very regular 29-30 day cycles. She basically thinks I fall into the unexplained category. So what will they do for me?
I don't really want to take meds and I would rather not have an IUI. So is there anything else they can do?
I don't know if I can handle too much more of the waiting and dissapointment of getting a BFN every month. I think it will be 100 times harder if I am getting help and it is still not happening.

Re: what will an RE do?
I'm curious as to what kind of testing the OB/GYN has had done that they say you fall into the "unexplained" group. Did they do CD3, CD 21 testing and an HSG to see about the tubes? What about a post-coital test? If you had those tests and they are "normal" there isn't much more an RE can do that doesn't require meds. So long as DH's SA is normal and you don't have hostile mucosu you can alsways try meds (to get more follies) and still BD.

Re: what will an RE do?
Basically the RE will evaluate the scenario and start working towards a potential diagnosis. Generally, they do preliminary bloodwork and a sono to get some baseline information. The bloodwork will most likely be comprised of hormone levels, testing for genetic disorders and some autoimmune disorders...anything that could negatively effect conception or pregnancy. Once he/she gets those results they will determine a course of action to take.
There are alternatives to the methods that you do not prefer to use, but I would try to remain open-minded to the suggestions and treatments that the doctor suggests. Good luck with your visit. I hope things go well.
