What to send when someone dies?
My boss' MIL just passed away and I'd like to send something, but I'm torn between flowers and food. DH and I are very friendly with my boss and his wife, so we do have a personal relationship outside of work. There will only be one service from 3-6 pm on Friday, so I'm not sure if they're having ppl over to their house. Should I send a food basket or flowers or a plant?

I say a food basket or donation to a charity. IMO, I hate flowers because they are a lot of $$ and die within a few days.

How about an edible arrangement. When we had family deaths, friends and family sent us these, so we had food to put out when people came to the house between services.

I would choose food over flowers. But if you did want to send flowers, I would send a plant, something that can easily continue to grow....

Definitely food. Maybe have a platter of cheese and cold cuts sent from a local deli.

I sent a friend a Harry and David food arrangement since she was having some of the family stay at her home. I figured it was just something they could nosh on.

I totally agree. even if they don't have people coming over they'll still eat it.

I send food. You can call a local grocery store and they can deliver a roasted chicken with some sides and salads. Also Ben's has a bagel platter they can deliver.
