What to send for sick friend

One of my very close friends recently told me her father has cancer and will be going through chemo soon. I was roommates with her for a few years and her family was my second family for a time. I feel so bad and hoping he does get better, but want to send him something.
He lives in Mass so is not close and just wanted to send a little something to show I'm thinking of him. I did speak with her mom for a bit. We are not as close and I haven't seen them since her wedding last year.
Any ideas? Balloons? Cookies? etc.

Do you know what his interests are? My uncle read a lot and did crosswords/word searches during his chemo treatments..he also loved sweets because he lost his taste for regular food. Maybe you can send him some books or magazines and cookies? I'm sure he will love whatever you send him.

I always like an edible arrangement for something like that since it can be hard to get to the store for fresh groceries. Another option would be to call a local deli to see if you can have some prepared foods delivered.

Thanks for the ideas. I know his wife is home and can do a lot. I like the edible arrangements idea. He's a huge Boston sports fan and we always joke bc he loves his Pats and Red Sox. Was thinking of something with that.

chemo is rough. Send something to help take his mind off things! Puzzle books, magazines, movies...
