I have pork chops for dinner tonight and I want to do something different with them.

Any suggestions?

Re: what to do with pork chops?

I keep it real simple. I marinate in Tuscan Italian salad dressing and then I cook them on the stove in a covered pan with a little more salad dressing in the pan. Medium heat, cook about 6-8 min each side. At the very end I take the lid off to cook off the remaining dressing and it creates a nice glaze on the chops. DH loves them!

I use seasoned panko and bread them with egg. I season both more.

then I pan fry so each side is golden brown in canola oil and put them on a broiler pan and bake them in the oven at 425 for 25 mins,.

They come out perfect. I always have them with apple sauce. Yum!

Delicious! I like to dredge them in seasoned flour first and use plain panko. And then I squeeze a little lemon on them when they are done. Sooo good. I like it with some herb buttered pasta on the side.

that sounds great. I'm always looking for different ways to do pork. Herb buttered pasta sounds wonderful. I would love to know how to make that.

I sometimes make them with noodles and cheese and peas. Family favorite

Put butter, a minced garlic clove, a dollop of olive oil and your favorite herb/herbs in a saucepan and heat until melted and then a couple of minutes extra. Add cooked pasta (I loooove it with tortellini) and toss until coated. I usually grate a little Reggiano over it too.

Noodles and peas sounds like a winning combo. Trying it next week!Chat Icon

Re: what to do with pork chops?

Other than using bread crumbs, we also cook ours in brown gravy, with onions and have white rice on the side.

If you want the exact recipe, let me know and I can get it from my mom.

Re: what to do with pork chops?

my mom used to make "burnt" sauerkraut on top of pork chops. Sounds silly to purposefully burn it, but it is SOO yummy!

Sounds weird but I boil noodles in salted water and drain. Put some butter in the pot and melt. Add the noodles back in. Get em all lubed and hot (Dh and I laugh at this point)Chat Icon and add a container of 2% small curd cottage cheese. I use breakstone. Season with salt, fresh ground pepper and a some garlic powder. We like it peppery. Get it all hot and combined. We serve the peas separate but as the meal goes on with throw them together. Especially if there are leftovers. They go into a container in the fridge together.

This noodle dish can be put into a casserole pan and put in the oven with buttered corn flake crumbs and golden raisins if you want to sweeten it.

That brings me to my noodle kugel recipe but that's for another thread.

Re: what to do with pork chops?

I haven't tried this yet but it sounds yummy.

6 to 8 1-inch thick loin pork chops
3 tbs dry rub (see recipe below)
Juice of 3 oranges
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tbs cider vinegar
2 cloves of garlic smashed
Canola or other vegetable oil

Dry Rub
6 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons onion powder
3 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons ground oregano

Directions
Rub both sides of chops with dry rub

In a seperate bowl, stir the citrus juices, vinegar and garlic and mix then pour over the chops

Marinate for 1 hour

Heat oil over medium heat and add chops

Cook until chops are well browned on underside (~6mins)

Turn chops and cook until they are firm near the bone (~8 mins)

Re: what to do with pork chops?

If you have time for a croc pot...

I do:
1 cup chicken broth mixed with one packet of french onion soup mix...

Pour mix over the pork chops in the croc pot... Cook low for 6 hours...

They are delicious and the easiest thing ever!

Re: what to do with pork chops?

I made a Paula Deen recipe the other day and it was insanely good...and I didn't deep fry them, I only put a little oil in the bottom of the pan and they still were nice and crispy!

* 6 cups vegetable oil
* 2 teaspoons House Seasoning, recipe follows, divided
* 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
* 6 pork chops
* 1 cup buttermilk
* 1 cup all-purpose flour

Directions

Heat oil in a large, heavy bottomed pot to 350 degrees F.

Sprinkle the seasonings on both sides of the pork chops, rubbing them thoroughly into the meat. Pour buttermilk over meat and turn to coat on all sides. Season flour generously with House Seasoning, roll each chop into flour, and shake off the excess. Carefully place the chops, 2 at a time, into the hot oil, and cook until the outside is golden brown. Take 1 chop out and make a small cut at the thickest part to check for doneness; adjust time accordingly for the rest. Drain on paper towels before serving.

House Seasoning:

* 1 cup salt
* 1/4 cup black pepper
* 1/4 cup garlic powder

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
