What to do with an 8 year old in LI
My cousin & her DH live in Seattle, they are coming into Long Island for 4 days in September because her 8 year old DD has a dance competition. They are flying in 2 days before the competition, so they are looking for some fun things to do with her. They are staying at the La Quinta in Garden City so nothing to far away from that, since they don't know LI at all, and they will have a rental car. My boys are still little so whatever I would suggest I don't think she would enjoy. Is Adventure land still open in late September? Maybe a fall festival? I am guessing an 8 yr old would no longer enjoy the Long Island Children's Museum or White Post Farms? TIA!

What to do with an 8 year old in LI
I believe Adventureland is open through October (weekends only, though). What about Cradle of Aviation? I think an 8 year old could still enjoy LICM. Is the Bronx Zoo too far? That's always a great time for all ages.

Probably not the children's museum but the Cradle of Aviation is right there too, and even I still think its so cool.

Adventureland is about 25-30 mins from there and is open weekends
Cradle of aviation, LICM as well as nunleys carousel all 3 are a 2 min drive from the hotel
If the weather is nice a walk on the beach
Tons of restaurants between 7th street and franklin ave, all those around Roosevelt field
Bayville scream park might still be young for that though
Nights-get tickets for The Rise at old westbury gardens
If she has some time bronx zoo is about 30-40 mi. Drive from the la quinta in Garden city
There is a bowling ally up the block from the hotel as well as movie theaters at RF and at Raceway
Dave and busters is at the source
Maybe apple picking out on the island
Nassau county art museum
