What to do on Halloween...
DS is 14 mos and an only child and I dont really have any other kids to go trick or treating with. At this age he cant eat 90% of the candy out there, not like I want him to any way. What should I do with him? I feel like people have said go to the mall - Smithaven - and you can go trick or treating to the stires or something? But I just looked online and their website mentioned nothing going on the day of Halloween. I could just take him around my mom and MIL's neighborhood, but I was hoping to do somethi g else since I took the day off... Any ideas or things to do out there?

Do you have friends with school going kids? there are usually parades going on at schools at halloween and maybe you could tag along to see a friends kid?
At this age I would just enjoy spending the day off with your little one and maybe go to your moms house and hang out there for a little while.

What to do on Halloween...
DS is 17 months and we plan on doing what we did last year. We will put him in his costume and take pictures. My in laws, my mom & stepdad, and my grandparents will come over around 5:30 to see him in his costume and we will order pizza. He will keep his costume on to help me answer the door. Next year, at 2.5, we will most likely start trick or treating.

Smithaven Mall as trick or treating from 12-6. Information is on their FB page.
Stony Brook Village has their trick or treat and scarecrow festival from 3-5.
Ward Melville HS does a really cute trick or treat for the kids. The classrooms are all decorated in different themes and the HS kids are all dressed up. There are different activities and crafts set up in each room. Entrance "fee" is a food donation that is given to a local food bank. 4:30-6:30

We did something similar last year.
She LOVED helping me give out candy in her costume and everyone who came trick or treating got a kick out of it

We were there last year.
We went to the mall. It wasn't "great", but did give him the chance to wear his costume and walk around a bit. He saw some other kids.
This year (2.5), we will go to our neighbors and ring the doorbell to say trick or treat. We will keep the candy & give him some apple. Our little one (9 mo) will tag along for the ride.
