What to do in this heat???

I am a teacher so home with DD now who is 5 1/2 months. I had so many plans of getting out this summer but its been so freaking hot! We live in an apt so no backyard space for her little pool. We have to go to her grandparents house for that.

So what have you been doing with your LOs besides jacking up the AC bill running it all day long? Lol

i dont know what to do with DD either! we attempted the park but its just so hot even in the shade.

maybe try barnes and noble story time? i think its wednesdays and saturdays but you can look it up online

I think youre a queens mom if i remember correctly -
there is my gym in fresh meadows, and gymboree has a class in forest hills (but these are both things you have to pay for)

I wish we could do more outdoor stuff too but i just think it's too hot for her to be outside.... we do sometimes go in a little backyard kiddie pool, but other than that sometimes we go to the mall. Sounds pretty boring for a baby but I think it's good for her to get out and stimulating for her to experience all the different sights and sounds and smells. She seems so content just looking around and taking it all in. We also go to family/friend's houses on the weekend. That's pretty much it. But i find anywhere that's not her usual surroundings is exciting to her, even if it's just the supermarket.

ETA: Good idea from PP. We've gone to Barnes and Nobles before, not for story time, but she's loved looking at colorful picture books and stuff. She also loves the baby/toddler section of baby/toy stores. i show her all the toys, especially the ones you can try out and light up/make sounds/etc.

I second the mall. I took DS to the mall last summer whenever it was too hot to do anything else and we just needed to get out of the house. It was great because I got to walk around and he would sit in the stroller and look around or sometimes nap. It's so hard when it's this unbearable outside but sometimes you need to get out of the house.

The library! Check the programs they probably have infant classes and for free too. Also the mall is always cool and at 5.5 months by baby loved strolls, so you can do it indoors.

I lived at the mall during hurricane sandy, but this time it was to stay warm with an infant.
