What the heck is a charger?
I know its a plate but what is it for? Does it serve a purpose?

It's purely decorative.

Re: What the heck is a charger?
Thanks...the name strikes me as odd. I thought maybe they are plates that you warm in the microwave ("charge") and put under other plates to keep the food hot.

That would be a very cool invention. They go under the plate as decoration

I registered for 1 charger set but I've actually been using them as everyday platters.

REALLY?? Where? For $1 I'm willing to travel. Much better than the $10-$35 EACH that I've seen so far!

Were they food safe??? A lot of chargerers, depending on what they're made out of, aren't meant to have food on them.

They are plastic and we got them off our registry at Linens & Things. They are cheap. I think it was like 4 for $5. I use them to put a cake on etc. I probably will be throwing them out when we leave our place now. I have real platters that match my everyday china but we are trying to save all that to use once we get our townhouse.
