What size memory card for Nikon D40?
Which do you have? Thanks!
ETA: Another question. Besides the lenses, what else would you suggest getting to be completely ready with the camera? Did you get the warranty? Also, anything else I should definitely get? Thanks!

I bought it on my honeymoon and was so excited to get it that I didn't really shop around for any other gadgets yet.

4GB. I have a 3 year warranty. You have to have the sensor cleaned every year, and my warranty covers the cost as well as anything that breaks.

I have a 1GB memory card in my Nikon D50. Way more than I'll ever need. I also take pictures off the camera often. But on a medium to fine setting, I can still get about 800 pictures. On a superfine setting I would get about 500.

DH has a 2 GB card. actually, he keeps a few in the carrying case, just incase.

If you ask Barb who is the master photographer... , she recommends a filter to prevent the lens from breaking if you drop your camera.

I have a 4GB as well and it holds like 20000 pictures or something insane. IMO it's too big.

I have two 4 GBs & 1 512 MB.
One 4 GB is about 1500 jpgs photos on high resolution.
Also you MUST get a filter to protect your lens. The filter can cost $14-20 which will protect a lens that costs $400-800.

I agree, defintely a haze filter. Protects from scratches and dirt.
plus it holds this flip open filter cap on which I think is fab
