What should I do?

I *think* I will be 5 weeks on Saturday (according to an online ivf due date calculator-but haven't been told by RE yet)

I woke up about 15 minutes ago and have brown spotting. So far it's only brown-no pink or red. I'm on the progesterone suppositories, so it could be those, although I haven't had an issue with them yet. I didn't really have any symptoms to begin with, so I don't know if they'd be fading. I'm not cramping except for the occasional AF type cramp.

Should I call the RE and ask to come in for blood work? Or just chalk it up to being normal?

I'm freaking out because i've miscarried once before...

Re: What should I do?

It could be from the progesterone, but I think I would call the doc just to be sure.

Re: What should I do?

I had some brown spotting at 6 weeks. I called the OB and went in for a sono. My dr. said that it's common for many women to have some slight spotting. I think you should call your dr. for peace of mind.

ITA. It is common, but it is always a good idea to hear it from a Dr. as well.Chat Icon

Re: What should I do?

I had spotting at 5.5 weeks and everything was normal. They actually told me mine was implantation spotting, which I thought was odd at the time because I thought implantation spotting was supposed to be before you missed your period.

Personally I would want to go in for peace of mind but that is just me.

When is your next appointment?

Re: What should I do?

I did IVF as well and I had spotting around 5-7 weeks... its was just brownish and was from the suppositiories. After a while (4x a day) they can irritate your cervix

I think even though it's probably nothing, since you've had a miscarriage in the past, you should probably just call the RE. Chat Icon

Re: What should I do?

I had 2-3 days of brown spotting at 5 weeks. I called my RE freaked out and she said it was a good sign of a strong implantation. As long as you have no cramping and it isn't red, you're fine Chat Icon

Thanks everyoneChat Icon

I just talked to a nurse and she said it's almost definitely from the suppositories.

I would just wait until your Monday appointment since it is so close.

Plus as long as you are not cramping and the blood isn't bright red, you are probably fine. My spotting had both brown and pink blood. I must admit I was very scared at the time. Anytime you see blood down there, it's scary. Chat Icon
