 | Another coxsackie question My girlfriend called me this morning b/c her daughter has it. I spent the day with her on Friday so now I'm sure my 2 kids are next.
What are the beginning symptoms? Both kids feel warm to me but both have teeth coming in. Ava has been sleeping A LOT (like she has been napping for 3 hours and still out cold). Both have been crabby but again, both have teeth coming in.

Also, is it contagious to adults b/c my in laws watched the kids Friday night and my FIL has luekemia and I worry about his immune system

 | Re: Another coxsackie question It is contagious to adults, but more than likely adults have develeoped the antibodies. You should call your ILs & let them know.
It starts out with a slight fever (which can get high -103 isn't that unusual). The fever can come & go. Decreased appetite, Drooling, crankiness. Bascially the same signs as a teething. A day or 2 after the ever, you'll see the blisters in their hands, mouth & feet within a few days.

They are most contagious the week they have it. It usually lasts 7-10 days.

 | Re: Another coxsackie question I had coxsackie when my daughter had it and my DH had it as well but not as bad. I just felt like I was run over by a truck. Chills/hot flashes, body aches, VERY sore throat --- fluish. So I'd call and allert the adults you ere around, especially FIL since he has a compromised immune system.
As for the kiddos day 1 Emily was just not her self and very sleepy.

Day 2 very cranky, spiked her fever at 103.2 and probably would have gone higher if we didn't take it and do tylenol and motrin 30 minutes back to back with eachother and then rotated giving them every 4-6 hours.

The 3rd day was similar, except then she wouldn't eat anything--solids or liquids.

day 4 cranky and sleepy but started to take bottles again.

day 5 took most of her bottles and started to be more active and cheerful.

Day 6 she is pretty much her old self again.

Hang in there! It's crazy how many people are getting it this year! It reminds me of the plague or something!
