 Middle is considered the safest!

 why is that?

initially i thought middle would be safest because it would protect better against a side impact, however since there is a space in the front of our car, if the seat becomes detatched from the base then the seat has the potential of flying through the windshield (maybe not because it's too big)

on the graco car seat installation instructions i believe they reference the side as a preference...

 | Re: car seat answers the risk of injury would be greater on the side due to side impact. Getting hit from behind is not a direct hit on the car seat. Does that make sense? Manufacturers very well might make recommedation and it doesn't mean there wrong, however the National Highway Traffic and Safety Association uses the middle as there most safe position. |

 | Re: car seat answers It was never specified which side was better, either side is ok. I personally would pick the passenger side just so I could see the seat better. |

 | Re: car seat answers I know this is an old thread but instead of starting a new one with my question I thought it may be useful for the new moms.....
my question is - why can't you use both LATCH and the seat belt to install the car seat? it seems that two anchors would be better than one, no?

Do you HAVE to get the seat inspected by the Police before bringing baby home?

the answer to that can be very detailed. You can use both forms of installation however its just not necessary . This one is a hard one to answer over the computer cause I would need to show you why with an actual seat.

 My question:

no you do not have to have it inspected but its always better to be safe than sorry. Let me know if you need a recommendation of a place to get it done.

thanks....I was just worried that having both was somehow LESS safe, like if they canceled each other out somehow

 | Re: car seat answers ok, now what about twins?? if you put one in the center, can another fit right next to it? or do they both have to be on the sides? if they can fit right next to each other, i think i'm going to feel guilty giving one the safer space, while the other is not as safe!!
 what do you recommend?

 | Re: car seat answers I am sorry, but you are incorrect. When the center is not available, the passenger side is the preferred location for installation. |
