what exactly goes in the diaper bag???
Hello mommies and mommies to be,
I received my diaper bag yesterday and I was wondering whta exactly goes in there..
It came w/ a changing pad so what else is a staple that goes in the bag???

This is what I have in mine
Diapers
Wipes
change of clothes
Changing table disposable covers
a few toys
food
Then I would put in anything I think I would need for that day.. in the summer some sun block.. if his skin had been dry maybe some lotion.. if he was teething maybe some tylenol if I was going to be out all day, a lil blanket when we go to the movies

I have also heard its helpful to include a pacifier, burp cloth, light blanket, some kind of snack or candy for you (esp. if you are breastfeeding!) - and maybe even an emergency shirt for you (think acidents of spit up or diaper leak!)
a friend of mine also brings disaposable changing pads in hers....in case the table isn't that clean or whatever and she doesn't want to use her pad from the bag!

My diaper bag has at all times:
Wipes
Diapers
One change of clothes in case of accidents
A sweater/jacket
Toys
Pacifier
Burp cloth (two)
Bottle warmer to go
Disposable changing pads
Hand sanitizer

I also add some plastic bags (like from the food store) for when he takes HUGE POOPS while shopping at the mall or something, and gets it on his clothes... so i put the poopie clothes in the bag...

For an infant I would make sure I had:
Diapers
Wipes
Plastic changing pad-usually comes with the bag
Changing pad covers
Extra outfit/onesies/pj's (depending on what time and type of day it is)
Desitin (or something like it)
Purell
Extra nursing pads for you (even if you're not nursing you'll need them in the first few weeks)
Mylicon drops-if your baby is gassy
toy
burp cloths
bib-I actually started using the disposal bibs once she was on solids
disposable bags for diapers
I know some people put some extra money (like $20) for an emergency

I always lurk here. Anyway, a few weeks ago we were out to dinner and I run to the bathroom. Inside is a mom, her mom, sisters and her baby. He took a really nasty one and got it all over. He must have been about 2 months old. Anyway, they were trying to clean him and the girls mother suggests she put the dirty clothing in a plastic bag and she didn't have one. Soooo, I just wanted to say that your suggestion is one I will consider when my time comes!

2 8 oz RTF formula (at all times)
spoon and babyfood( depending on how long I am out)
2 bottles
my wallet
purell wipes
fresh sacs( for poopie diapers-get it at BuybuyBaby)

Desitin cream
travel size baby lotion
bags for dirty diapers
extra pacifier (for when I don't have access to water after one fell on the floor)

I think that covers it...
I also put in toys and a nose plunger thingy (in case he is stuffy!) Other than that... this list covers it for me too!
